“A kind, champagne-swilling, smoking hedonist with the biggest heart in
London” was a friend’s description of Sally Bulloch, who for 26 years was
executive manager of the Athenaeum Hotel in Piccadilly. The job embraced
public relations and looking after VIP guests, a job for which she was very
well qualified — Gyles Brandreth called her “a one-woman walking party”.
Bulloch made people feel at home, never had a bad word to say about anyone
and always acted with complete discretion.
