Art and creativity has the power to change and inspire. Generating valuable lessons from one's mistakes is the ultimate path to progress. I enjoy taking risks and exploring the boundaries in art.

Dominika Juraszek was born in Wroclaw, Poland and arrived in the US at the age of six. She started playing guitar, singing, and studied the visual arts at a very early age. Coming from an artistic family she was fascinated by all that is less ordinary. Her love of music and art comes from a long tradition. She finished her Bachelors degree at Rhode Island School of Design and her Masters degree at California Institute of the Arts in film. She received her artistic education and inspiration from renowned artists such as Kathe Burkhart, Jules Engel, Suzan Pitt, Michael Scroggins, Betzy Bromberg, Kevin Geiger, Marcin Gizynski, and Agnieszka Taborska.

She was introduced to interactive music by renowned "lady glove controller," Laetitia Sonami, and began exploring interactive possibilities in California. Her pressure sensor installations were displayed at the Main Gallery. Her films were screened at The REDCAT Theater and Lincoln Center and several film festivals in the US. Dominika performed numerous music shows in LA. She directed a music video for the Providence Phoenix Best Vocalist winner, Becky Chace Band and worked as an assistant director to filmmaker Robert Lyons at Liberty Studios.

In 2002 Dominika received an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Grant and Kosciuszko Foundation Grant. Currently, she is teaching filmmaking and animation while continuing her own independent film projects. Ms. Juraszek is the Media Center Director at BCNY. She is also a freelance photographer for the underground music scene as well as a member of Animator's Ink.
