J.B. Kasper  of " The times" local newspaper from Trenton ,N.J,  reports the following:

" So far striper fishing has been sparse, with mostly short bass being caught. Good amounts of sea herring and bunker have already moved into the inshore waters and Raritan Bay. What is needed now is several days of 60- or 70-degree weather to bring up the water temps which, as of this writing, are in the low 40s. Look for the striper fishing to build throughout the month, with the heart of the fishing for the bigger fish to start around the end of the month. Clams and worms will be the ticket to the fish during the early part of the month, however, once the bass start feeding on the bunker and herring, the fish should hit just about anything."
