Andrea Bianchini

Andrea Bianchini was born in Florence in 1960 in the neighbourhood of Santo Spirito, where he still lives and works. During his childhood, he fell in love with art, creating oil canvases. He gained his diploma at the ‘Istituto dell’Arte’ in Florence. His main passion and primary goal remains drawing, and through it, he found his own personal style. He worked in a workshop (“bottega”)  that was involved in decoration.

From 1979 to 1988, he took a time-out dedicated to music, being the lead singer in a rock band.
In 1986, a workshop opened that was dedicated to decoration and poster designing.  Along with his passion for painting, he also became fond of decoration and photography. This passion caused him to travel abroad frequently to Mexico, Egypt, Turkey and other countries, where he carried out some research and searched for fresh inspiration. He used pure colours, trying to give a strong intensity of light to the canvas by leaving big, white spaces.

His creative vein exploded in 1997 and he started to feel the need to exhibit his works. In January 1998, he held his first personal exposition in the Ex-Convento del Carmine in Florence. In the same year, he was awarded the ‘Premio Italia per le arti visive’, (Italy Award for Visual Arts), and he organized a personal exhibition called ‘Oceani’ (Oceans), held at the Forte Crest in Milan, hosted by Giorgio Seveso (one of his works remains in the Forte Crest art collection). In 1988, he was also present at the ‘EtruriArte Fiera’ in Venturina and at the 16th ‘Premio Firenze’ (Florence Award), where his work was integrated into the ‘Antologia dei premiati’ (Award Winners’ Anthology).
In 1999, he participated in the ‘Premio Italia per le arti visive’ (Italy Award for Visual Arts), and made a personal exhibit at the 10th ‘Settimana d’arte’ (Art Week) in Cecìna sul Garda.

In 2000, he exhibited once again at the ‘Premio Italia per le Arti Visive’, at the ‘Artisti toscani per il 2000’ (Tuscan Artists for 2000) at the Galleria Forum in Rome, and at the ‘Premio Firenze’ after which he was given the chance to exhibit among the winners at the Giubbe Rosse cafè in Florence.

In 2001, he made a personal exhibition at the Galleria Mentana in Florence. During this period, his research was still completely focused on Light, searching and experimenting with new and different techniques: white-on-white on paper using acrylic paste, enamel on plastic and on canvas, themes that repeat themselves on dark backgrounds.
In 2002, he organized another personal exhibition at the Villa Magnaguti in Cerlongo and took part in the ‘Immagina’ Fair in  Reggio Emilia.

Other personal exhibitions at the historical Giubbe Rosse cafè in Florence and at the  Castello di Lerici in Lerici took place in 2003. In December 2003, on the occasion of the exhibition called ‘La Reggia Rivelata’ (The Royal Palace Revealed) at the Pitti Palace in Florence, he created a series of panels decorated in pure gold, that have since become part of the permanent exhibition at the Galleria Palatina.

In April 2004, he exhibited at the Chiostro di Villa Vogel in a personal exhibition entitled ‘Figure in Luce’ (Figures in Light), where he presented the first gleaming (‘lucentista’)  installation.
